The RHI for
your heat pump
Domestic Renewable Heat
The Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (Domestic RHI) is a government financial incentive to promote the use of renewable heat. Switching to heating systems that use eligible energy sources can help the UK reduce its carbon emissions and meet its renewable energy targets.
The Renewable Heat Incentive or the RHI is the first governmental supportive program of such kind in the UK. It aims at providing financial aid to those people across the UK, who wish to install renewable heating sources in their property.
to increase payouts
The government has announced reforms to the calculation, which, when being implemented, will increase the tariffs from 7.63 pence per Kw to 10.02 pence per Kw up to a maximum 20,000Kw heating demand.
The review report from the government that highlighted these changes was published in December 2016 and is available to view here.
There is currently no date for the implementation of these changes, however the report does say they will come into force spring summer 2017. Customers who install an air source heat pump and qualify for the RHI would be paid at current tariffs and when the changes are implemented all future payments will be at the higher tariff.
